Saturday February 17th : save the date!!!
We’re finally there! The dust has settled, the shop is ready, and the time has finally come to properly celebrate opening Upside Down Records!!
So get the date in your diary and join us for our official in-store Launch Party on Saturday 17th Feb!
We’ll be celebrating from 1:30pm until 10:00pm and we’ve put together a killer line-up of live acts and DJs throughout the day, including a *very* special guest / live act who we have to keep under wraps but who we’re super excited about!
If that wasn’t enough, there’ll be some vinyl giveaways, free booze and – of course – racks full of great records to browse and buy!
disco_r.dance – a duo of experimental DJs, making noise since the late 90s
Death Is Not The End – aka Luke Owen, who has been building a collection of crumbling blues, pirate radio hauntology, spiritual music, reggae, folk and dusty proto jazz, and sharing it on his excellent NTS show and via his eponymous label – expect some eclectic beauties!
Richard Greenan & Mr Beatnick – NTS Radio resident DJs, producers and label owners (Kit Records / Mythstery) performing as a live duo whose sound orbits the woozier fringes of house and hip-hop, while traversing the cracks between ambient, textural experimentation and the avant-garde.
Playing from 6pm onwards we have :
Mollys Daggers– a rock and roll/blues rock/folk rock act the way they used to make them, these guys will take us on a round of classics and songs from their 2015 debut album which is rumoured to soon be getting a re-issue on The Libertines record label.
Our Very Special Guest – well, we have to keep tight-lipped on this I’m afraid but let’s just say we’re honoured to have one of our favourite avant-pop songsmiths playing for us in the run-up to their new album launch and US tour. Maybe you can spot a hint on our poster design?
and to finish :
DJ Food – aka Strictly Kev, has been the main man behind the Food moniker for the last 20 years and needs no introduction to anyone paying attention to the electronic music scene over the last few decades! The man is a virtuoso on the decks and his feel for music has never diminished. The DJing equivalent to the three star michelin : taste+technical abilities+experience= good old unadulterated fun!!
Unfortunately we had two last minute cancellations, one due to injury the other one to illness : colour Telly and Clementine March will not be performing this time but definitely will in the near future. .
