Get Started

Give me a call today, or follow the simple steps below to get started.

How to sell your records and cassettes

Step one:

Familarize yourself with what we do and don’t buy! (see below).

Step two:

If you have what i am looking for please fill out the form at the end of this page of or call me (if you don’t know what you have!)

What DO we buy?

Prog, heavy psych & original punk and alternative/indie

We know this is a deeply specific world. Philippe is entirely in on it—whether it’s a legendary Vertigo Swirl, an obscure textured gatefold, or an unboxed Decca first press. If you have original pressings of bands such as Cressida, Nucleus, The Misfits, My Bloody Valentine or Stereolab, we have the knowledge and experience to make the right offer based on real data and current real market value.

Soul, jazz, reggae & rare grooves and Northern Soul rarities

Deep jazz pressings, classic roots, and rare funk 7″s. Think floor-fillers and rare gems like J.D. Bryant, Junior McCants, Larry Clinton, Willie Tee, Tomangoes etc. Jazz bangers such as Tommy McCook, Kenny Dorham, Sonny Clark, Dorothy Ashby, Weldon Irvine, James Mason and obviously Miles, Coltrane and absolutely anything by the amazing Chet Baker!!!

Global sounds & psych

Tropicalia, bossa, Afrobeat and obscure psych rarities. Philippe gets properly excited if you drop names such as Tony Allen or Fela Kuti, Marcos Valle, OS Mutantes, Gilberto gil or Gal Costa!!

Electronic, hip hop & avant-garde

Industrial pioneers like Throbbing Gristle, classic house, techno, jungle, and hip hop. We actively look for names like Moodymann, Aphex Twin, MF Doom, Slipmatt, or LTJ Bukem.

70s and 80s, mainstream chart pop and soft rock

Examples of what we love : Rumours, Thriller, Graceland, The Dark Side of the Moon, Nebraska, or Tracy Chapman’s debut.

90s and 00s rock, indie, alternative, and pop

Whether it veers towards Oasis, Nirvana or Sufjan Stevens, we will be happy with pretty much any collection from that era!

What DON'T we buy

78s & shellac

Generally, anything from the 1950s and earlier just doesn’t fit our turntables. (The only exception: if you have genuine 1950s rock ‘n’ roll or deep Delta blues shellac, Philippe will absolutely want a look).

Easy listening & crooners and soft pop

We do love a good tune and a singalong in the movies, but orchestral pop, big bands and things liker Mrs Mills or James Last have a habit of squatting the building for eternity.

Classical & opera

Traditional orchestral box sets and choral LPs rarely find a home here. Brilliant for a Sunday morning snooze, not so for our shop floor

Mainstream country western:

Unless it’s got a seriously dark, outlaw edge, standard line-dancing compilations and Nashville pop tend to just gather dust in Deptford.

Poor condition records

If it’s got deep scratches, nasty warps, or looks like it survived a flooded basement, we have to pass. We love a bit of character, but the music actually needs to play clean.

I'd be more than happy to recommend Philippe of Upside Down Records. He gave me a decent price for my record collection today and also took a couple of pairs of speakers. I felt very comfortable dealing with him.
